Minnesota Oversteps: Christian Parents Beware...

Minn. Governor Tim Walz signs Trans Refuge Act

Trans Rights and the Loss of Parental Authority

The Transgender Revolution marches on…

  • “Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. Not to speak is to speak; not to act is to act.”

- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Parents in the state of Minnesota have a new fear: Losing their child(ren) to the state for failing/refusing to provide gender-affirming care. Per the Minnesota Trans Refuge Act (Sec. 5.16-28) the State defines Gender-Affirming Care as:

"Gender-affirming health care" means medically necessary health care or mental health care that respects the gender identity of the patient, as experienced and defined by the patient, and that may include but is not limited to:

(1) interventions to suppress the development of endogenous secondary sex characteristics;

(2) interventions to align the patient's appearance or physical body with the patient's gender identity;

(3) interventions to alleviate the patient's symptoms of clinically significant distress resulting from gender dysphoria as defined in the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders; and

(4) developmentally appropriate exploration and integration of the patient's gender identity, reduction of the patient's distress, adaptive coping, and strategies to increase family acceptance of the patient's gender identity.

Christians take note!

Under a newly passed law called The Trans Refuge Act, the State of Minnesota has ceded itself the right to remove children from the homes of their parents because parents are not refuse to provide gender-affirming care.

  • Put plainly, this means that Christian parents holding biblical convictions about sexuality and gender can lose their children to the State for refusing gender-affirming care. The state of Minnesota has given itself the right to take emergency custody of the child if parents refuse “gender-affirming care.”

Laws already exist (often routed through D.S.S.) to protect children when parents legitimately fail their calling and role, such as abandonment, abuse, and failure to provide the most basic of necessities. But now, Minnesota has added the withholding of “gender-affirming care” to that list.

From the bill (Sec. 3A, 1-3) : A court of this state has temporary emergency jurisdiction if the child is present in this state and:

  • (1) the child has been abandoned or;

  • (2) it is necessary in an emergency to protect the child because the child, or a sibling or parent of the child, is subjected to or threatened with mistreatment or abuse; or

  • (3) the child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care as defined in section 543.23, paragraph (b).

In Minnesota, refusing to provide puberty blockers and genital mutilation is now the legal equivalent of physically abusing a child. It is now grounds for the state to take emergency custody of children.” - World Opinions

This is an absolute failure of government to do its job; an absolute moral atrocity. God clearly says that He appoints governments to uphold justice, to punish injustice, and to stand for what is good. This step by the Minnesota Government is the very opposite of Romans13; it turns the role of government on its head. Rather than terrorizing those who would do evil, the Government of Minnesota has now become a terror to those who would do good. This government has disqualified itself.

  • This is an instance where Christians cannot go along with the government. Not only can Christians not amen such a law, Christians cannot abide such a law. To do so would be to openly reject God’s authoritative Word; it would be feeding our children to wolves.

  • In so many ways, we are watching the world joyfully sacrifice their children to Moloch (Deut. 12:31).

  • And what’s worse, they want to sacrifice ours as well.

Christians in every State must soberly recognize that Minnesota is probably the first State of many to take this step. Christians must brace (especially those living in Democrat controlled states) for this kind of radical legislation in the coming months and years. Minnesota is a bellwether.

  • Christian parents are now going to be placed in the situation of sacrificing their children to Moloch, or losing them for the sake of biblical faithfulness.

Pastor Levi Secord sums up the situation soberly saying,

We do not live in a time when Christians can remain silent. We must seek the passage of righteous laws and oppose wicked laws. In particular, pastors must carefully think about their role as leaders in the community. Our primary responsibility is to our local churches, but our members live under the laws of the land, and that law can now allow the state to take our children.

Christ’s church must openly oppose bills like the Trans Refuge Act, which undermines parental rights and promotes harm to children. If pastors and other leaders remain silent, they will be judged not only by future generations but by God himself. Pastors and leaders who remain silent in the face of these wolves look more like hired hands than real shepherds.”

Bonhoeffer was right, not to speak is to speak; not to act is to act. May God help us...
